AUGIP was launched to provide a large pristine green urban space for people to visit and enjoy Ghana's flora and fauna. It was also established to become a centre of excellence for training florists and horticultural entrepreneurs and enthusiasts in the Greater Accra Region of Ghana, as well as a national conservatory for depleting flora and fauna.

We have achieved the following;
1. Signed a partnership agreement with the Ghana Atomic Energy Commission (GAEC) to release 15 acres of land for the project;
2. Trained 50 horticulturalist in tissue culture technology and processes of propagation of delicate plants;
3. Designed and built a healing garden as an extension to the GAEC Hospital in Accra.
This project is designed to be executed collaboratively among various partner institutions in the Public, Private and Civil Society sectors. The project was initiated by founding members of the Ghana Flowers Growers Association (GFGA) who are individual business operators, the land for project was donated by the Ghana Atomic Energy Commission - a Government Agency under the Ministry of Energy. Now that the project has started, we are hoping to attract funding from the corporations and other donors.
This project has taught us many lessons, including;
1. Working with partner organizations takes a lot of time, but it lessens the burden of getting things done;
2. Undertaking such projects requires a lot of personal sacrifices in terms of personal funds and time to get things started;
3. Persevering through difficult times would also be required.
