The outcome of YIP includes the significant increase of housing quality and residents' satisfaction in social housing. Most important of all. community formed within a social mix neighborhood has contributed to enhance social capital of the residents.
What are specific, distinctive, strong elements in this project?
YIP focuses on how to activate residents in social housing, playing the role of facilitator to increase interactions among residents. There are three distinctive goals that distinguish YIP from other housing policies and projects: forming a community network with reciprocal characteristics, stimulating a new housing culture and pursue a more creative and inclusive housing policy.
Which specific lessons, do's and don'ts would you like to share? What would be suggestions for others when preparing or implementing the project in their own city?
Realizing that social mix is the precondition of social housing neighborhoods, and that there are diverse housing needs which should be emphasized; that is the main topic of implementing the YIP project. Besides this, it is crucial that the selected teams are capable of communicating and interacting with residents. Moreover, they are aware that by embracing inclusiveness and diversity, a cohesive living environment can improve both individual and community well-being.
